最近几周，著名好莱坞制片人Harvey Weinstein多年来性侵女演员的新闻引起了不小轰动，程度比起之前Bill Cosby的性侵丑闻有过之而无不及。主要是因为Harvey Weinstein的影响力太大，而这次现身说法的女星包括Gwyneth Paltrow和Angelina Jolie这样家喻户晓的奥斯卡影后级人物，爆炸效应可想而知。

虽说没有走正式的法律程序，而美国一向实行无罪推定原则，但毕竟Harvey自己发表声明承认了性侵事实，所以这事儿没什么可争论的。不出所料，人人喊打之外，他手头的项目全部被终止，而且还被自己创立的公司The Weinstein Company开除。

留意一下外媒的报道，你会发现face the music这个短语频频出现。

face the music就是犯错之后面对现实、接受相应后果的意思，跟音乐没有直接关系。（点击可放大↓）

看一个来自美剧Sports Night的例子：

You got a lot of people mad at you. So, what do you say, I be the one person in your life that isn't pissed at you right now? You're gonna face the music, and you'll work hard in the off-season and you'll be back, only this time not quite so stupid!

当然，face the music并不是必须得描述性侵、嗑药这类原则性的大错，日常生活里的小错也适用。比如：I scratched my dad's car. He was reluctant to let me drive it in the first place. Now I have to face the music when he gets home.

既然跟音乐无关，为什么是face the music呢？很不幸，这个问题始终没有答案。不妨这么理解：音乐很有吸引力，所以说“面对音乐”比“面对后果”听起来有人情味一些，因此也让犯了错的人更愿意face the music。当然，这纯属我个人的瞎掰，听听就好。
