我之前已经提过，《时时刻刻》是一部非常压抑的电影。Nicole Kidman扮演的著名作家Virginia Woolf由于饱受精神疾病的困扰，以投河的方式结束了自己的生命。自杀前，她给丈夫Leonard留了纸条，里面写道：

Dear Leonard, to look life in the face, always, to look life in the face, and to know it for what it is. At last to know it, to love it, for what it is, and then, to put it away. Leonard, always the years between us, always the years, always the love, always... the hours...

每每看到或听到这段话，都会感受到强烈的震撼。Virginia Woolf的自杀确实不是一时冲动，她从小到大经历的种种痛苦，包括母亲和姐姐的离世，父亲的粗暴，两位兄长的性侵犯，完全超出了普通人能承受的范畴。

在我们看来，一位写作天才过早地离开了人世，很可惜。但对Virginia Woolf来说，可能这是唯一的解脱方式。

就像她说的，to look life in the face, and to know it for what it is. 她已经想清楚了，她也在力所能及的范围内去热爱生命了，所以当她走出那最后一步，我们能做的只有尊重她的选择。

我曾经觉得自杀是很自私的行为，但是现在我不会那么轻易去评判别人了，尤其是有精神疾病的人。We could all use a little more understanding and a little less judgment.
