1/ How come? 怎么...?

例句：How come you are still single?

你怎么还是单身啊？

原型: how does it come to be that...you are still single?

例句：How come you are in London?

你怎么来伦敦啦？

How come you are late?

你怎么晚啦？


是不是要比 why are you late （你为什么晚了）要柔和的多？


回答的时候要给出原因...

例如：

Because my car was broken down 我的车坏了

I came to London because I've got a conference to attend

我来伦敦因为我有一个座谈会要参加

conference： 会议/座谈会

注意, how come不是how did you come， 而是在问why


how come也可以单独用

例如：We need to stop at Birmingham

我们要在伯明翰停一下

Huh? How come?


2/ What for? 单独用..

例句：I think I will break up with Tom?

我想我要和Tom分手了..

Huh? What for? You guys make a such cute couple.

蛤？为什么啊？ 你们一对这么可爱。

Becaue he is so dumb. He forgot about my birthday yesterday and I was so looking forward to it.

因为他太蠢了. 昨天他忘记了我的生日，而且我还特别期待(我的生日)

looking forward: 对....期待

looking forward to meeting you 期待见到你


What for 的原型：

For what reason... 为了什么原因..

例如：

I need to go back to the office.

我还要回办公室一趟

How come? Or what for?


3/ what makes... 什么使得怎样怎样

What makes 和why 一样也是直接的问问什么..

例句：

What makes you think so？

什么让你这么认为？

What makes you a good candidate?

什么使你是一个很好的候选人?
